This workshop will take place in the Arlington Studio. Join us in person.
Join Dr. Candace Harding PT, DPT, OCS, owner of Thrive with Dr. C Integrative Physical Therapy to learn more about your body structure, strengths, and weaknesses to sustain a regular yoga practice for years to come. Did you know that the shoulders are the most mobile joint in the human body? Did you know that if mobility is the goal of joint function, stability is automatically sacrificed? Most of us don’t spend too much time weight bearing through our arms outside of yoga practice, so it’s quite common for yogis to develop shoulder issues over time.
In this workshop we will:
Review pertinent anatomy, including how the neck and upper back can impact shoulder function
Discuss proper muscle activation and alignment for common asana (especially chaturanga)
Partner up for functional strength and mobility testing so that you can learn more about your own body
Learn exercises to improve common strength and mobility deficits
Learn 1-2 short flows to easily incorporate into your personal practice for improved shoulder health
This workshop is for yoga practitioners of all experience levels - bring a notebook and pen, and get ready to build your house on a strong foundation. While you can always get another house, you will only ever have one body.
