B.K.S. Iyengar is one of the foremost yoga teachers of the 20th century, and arguably the most influential teacher in the early years of yoga becoming popularized in the west. John Schumacher studied directly with Mr. Iyengar for 33 years in India and the U.S., and he joins us for this special daylong program to share the Mr. Iyengar’s teachings from an experiential, theoretical, and personal point of view.
Lecture: The day will begin with a 30-minute talk about John’s time with Mr. Iyengar.
Practice: Then, the stage is set to experience the power and subtlety of Iyengar Yoga in a 2.5-hour asana class.

Q&A with John: After the break, spend some Q&A time with John about the class or anything else related to Iyengar Yoga and its philosophy and practical approach.
Pranayama: We will round out the day with an hour devoted to exploring the depth and serenity of pranayama as practiced in the Iyengar method.
John Schumacher studied directly with BKS Iyengar for 33 years in India and the US. He is an Advanced Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher (CIYT), one of only a handful of teachers in the US to hold a certificate at that level. John founded Unity Woods Yoga Center 40 years ago and was Awarded Yoga Journal’s prestigious Good Karma Award in 2015 for “40 plus years of sharing [his] practice to help authenticate yoga in America today.” John began teaching in 1973 and has taught thousands of teachers and students all over the world. His clear, precise style, engaging sense of humor, and numerous articles and interviews have made him one of the country’s leading yoga teachers.
