Awakening the Asymmetric Body
Saturday Oct 23, 12:30p - 4:30p
In the practice of hatha yoga much attention is paid to “right” alignment. One might think this is in the pursuit of linear symmetry, however, we humans are in a constant state of going with the flow and learning how to navigate a far more fluid hold on alignment. In this class the focus will be on moving with the inner currents that keep alignment from becoming overthought and rigid and, instead, become guides toward fluidly adapting to the form of asana. Spinal twists are particularly well suited for this exploration and will be given emphasis as Barbara encourages a re-thinking, of sorts, as we move and feeling these wonderful poses and go with the flow.
Yoga: From the Inside Out
Sunday Oct 23, 12:30p - 4:30p
Yoga marries the physical body, maintained bio-mechanically, and the body of the mind, described in abstract concepts that are more elusive. The mind is accessed by re-awakening and refining the feeling tone of the senses that echo from the deepest part of ourselves. This class will explore active and passive asana guided by the breath, the thread that marries the physical to the conscious mind.
