We are heartbroken to share the news that our beloved teacher Judith Lyon passed peacefully in the presence of family last Monday Nov. 14th, just before the rise of the full and spectacular Super Moon. There was a small family service in Miami two days later. As of yet there is no official obituary or information about where to send condolences – as soon as we have that information we will post it to our website.
Judith was an artist and art historian, formerly on the curatorial staff of the Phillips Collection. She had been a student of eastern philosophy and meditation for over 30 years, and based her teachings on the classical hatha yoga as expressed by B.K.S. Iyengar and Sri Swami Satchidananda. Judith taught in the Washington area for 25 years, and established the original yoga program at the National Institutes of Health. She dedicated her life's work to the well-being and health of others. Her daughter Alexandra expressed Judith's and the family's gratitude for all the cards, letters, gifts, friendships and kindnesses of the Sun & Moon community recently and over the many years.
She was loved and cherished in all her wonderful quirky glory.
