Polarizing worldviews, perpetual barrages of mis-partial-slanted-conflicting information, perplexing tangles of truths and opinions, psychological tribes … we are in increasingly divided times. To maintain their relationships, friends, neighbors, and even family members avoid difficult conversations about their differences and the spaces between us widen. How can we cultivate common ground while being true to what is important to us?
Yoga’s teachings espouse that consistent practice and non-reaction are needed to realize our common ground. Cultivating non-reaction asks us to pause: to perceive clearly what’s happening, verify we’re holding true to our purpose, and redirect ourselves as needed. Join us to take yoga off the mat and into the arena of conversations – including some that may be difficult – to mindfully pause, listen, and speak in a space of support respect, and freedom.
