Yoga, with its emphasis on balance, alignment and breathing, is great training for swimmers. While swimming laps is terrific exercise physically and psychologically, too much time spent in the water without counteracting or opposing exercises can be detrimental - resulting in body misalignment and lack of bone strength. A yoga practice can complement your swim routine by building strength and flexibility with poses that use body weight and gravity, and encourage a full range of motion throughout the body. We will focus on several key areas of the body to ward off injury and improve swimming performance, particularly shoulders, hips, ankles, and the low back. This workshop is open to all levels - even if you are new to yoga, and open to all levels of swimmer as well.
